The Art of Conflict: Video Works from the Asia Society Museum Collection

The Art of Conflict features contemporary artists whose works reflect on the tensions that emerge from societal ruptures, ranging from urban disruptions to war.

Showcasing new media art that responds to some of the most contentious crises in the past decade by artists from China, India, Iran, Korea, Japan and Pakistan, the exhibition highlights how video has increasingly become a critical medium in portraying the immediacies, and complexities of conflict, both past and present.

Through these works created by Shiva Ahmadi, Makoto Aida, Chim↑Pom, Shilpa Gupta, Minouk Lim, Lin Yilin, Nalini Malani, Rashid Rana, Song Dong, Tromarama, and Zhang Peili, art is presented as a catalyst for meaningful transformation, as well as an act of creative resistance.
